About the Bay Area Film Society

The Bay Area Film Society was founded in the winter of 1997 by a small group of film lovers desperate for more films. We kicked off with The Full Monty at the local historical society on a snowy February night, not knowing if anyone would show. We sold out. We’ve been showing films ever since.

All films are screened at the historic Bay Theater in Ashland. Our typical season runs from September – April with films generally shown every 3 weeks (excluding holidays). Please consider supporting our all-volunteer group and our mission to bring great cinema to the Bay area through purchasing individual, family, or gift memberships or through business and individual sponsorships.
