Special Pride Month Screening
In celebration of Pride Month, the Bay Area Film Society in partnership with Chequamegon Pride will screen The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The 1994 Australian cult classic was written and directed by Stephan Elliott and follows two drag queens and a transgender woman as they journey across the Australian Outback in a tour bus that they have named “Priscilla”.
The film was a surprise worldwide hit and its positive portrayal of LGBTQIA+ individuals helped to introduce these themes to a mainstream audience. It was also the winner of the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for 1994. There will be only one show @ the historic Bay Theater in downtown Ashland on Friday, June 23rd @ 9:30 pm. All tickets are $7 and movie-goers are encouraged to purchase them in advance on the BAFS website to guarantee a seat to this fabulous film!
